I finally got around to trying it on Sunday evening. And my first impressions are it’s pretty good! Unlike Euro Truck Simulator 2 you can’t just go freelance and drive a truck. You’re forced to buy a small box van and start your career that way.
I bought my little van and started off towing some building materials (I think – I was told to take them to a building site, anyway – although they could have been body parts of a murdered rival gang boss and they needed a non-suspect looking location to drop them off at).
The main gripe about this game that I have is that you’re forced to drive European style – that is – on the wrong side of the road in a left hand drive vehicle. I don’t know if that’s changeable in the menu but I can’t see that it would be – because the road signs etc have all been modelled on Europe stuff, and not UK stuff. This is a real shame because I don’t feel at home when playing it like I do when I play Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The finite driving can be a little bit fiddly, and definitely takes some getting used to. But you have all the angles to help you out. And in the end all it really takes is patience.
I got a small payment but it was only my first job.
I like the game! I think it has a lot going for it, although the framerates could do with being smoothed out. I turned v-sync OFF which in every other game has resulted in much smoother driving action, so I’m doubtful my own tweaking is the cause. But other than that and the other main gripe – a really nice game…..er….sim.
