Drought Over

Insanity…? I’ll tell you what’s insanity – having my first Bank Holidays off of work for 20 YEARS.

I’m still getting my head around that. Bank Holiday Monday I hoped for, but Good Friday yesterday as well….?! I was fucking beside myself when my manager calmly confirmed I’d not be working on either of them. Do you know what it’s like to watch year in, year out, as the news readers and weathermen talk about all those being off work for Bank Holiday. All those with ‘normal’ jobs. And there was me, still having to show up to work at the care home – and no extra pay.

Now I KNOW I will get them off. Christmas Day and New Year’s Day too! Do you know what it’s like NEVER having Christmas Day off??! The only reason I wasn’t working Christmas Day 2021 is that my nights off just happened to be around the 25th of December. It was only via coincidence. Now, every single year that I’m working for Royal Mail, I get Christmas Day off. That’s just amazing to me to think of.

Anyway, it’s 9:18, and time for another cosy early night, ready to wake up at an insanely early morning time and do it all again! 2 more days off to enjoy! (will be thinking of my Sunday colleagues tomorrow though – as they are actually delivering tomorrow).
