From all that I read, particularly on the screen refresh rate that matches the ROG Phone II, plus the..ugh…nearly 5000mAh battery, (the o2 site claims it’s a 5000mAh – the Samsung site says it’s actually 4500) plus the fast charging, plus the SD card slot (ESSENTIAL – not a fucking ‘nice optional extra’), plus the handle-able dimensions, I’m leaning towards the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus.
“Why so sad, Stephen?! It’s an awesome phone!!”
- It’s not “awesome”, it’s a fucking phone. Look up the word “awesome”, find some photos of Niagara Falls, photos of Mars, photos of a lone diver swimming with a great white shark, and then shut the fuck up calling a phone “awesome”.
- I really, REALLY enjoy standing out from the clones with either a Samsung or an Apple phone.
- Samsung (unless you’re deluded enough to think “tech journalists” know jack shit about tech) ARE NOT known for their longevity.
Sigh….I suppose I could go for this and then wait and see what Sony bring next year. I would have gone for the Xperia Mark I 2 (or Mark 1 II – or whatever confusing mess it is) but that has a 4000mAh battery. I DO NOT want to go under 5000mAh ever again. It also has a screen refresh rate of 60. Sony apparently claim their blur reduction makes it look like 90mhz. Riiiight. That’s probably about as convincing as a blu-ray player “upscaling” a DVD to magically look like HD. Yes this was claimed. No, it never was convincing.
Maybe Samsung even have their own music player app – who knows. I will look that up. I don’t intend to stick with a Samsung for any length of time, so I’ll just get saving up and hope for a decent 2021 offering from Sony WITH 5000mAh in a phone.
