Old flame..

Ohhh I am so tempted to go back. Back to the one that brought me comfort. Back to the one I cheated on for another. Back to one that NEVER let me down…..

I’m talking about a Navman sat nav, of course. Yes these are almost the Happy Shopper of sat navs. I say “almost” – I think Binatone hold that title. And would you really want a Binatone sat nav?? This thing would probably take you to Norfolk when you thought you were on your way to Northolt.

But I adored my Navman sat navs. The last time I bought one was as a replacement for a TomTom. I found TomTom to be fucking AWFUL. So much for “creme de la creme”. It gave instructions like “after 500 yards turn left”. Well of course it’s going to be AFTER 500 yards isn’t it you dumb cunt – otherwise you’d be driving backwards!! And such slapdash “I’m being really casual, here yah” ‘directions’ at roundabouts like “at the roundabout 2nd left”. Oh yeah all very hipster-fucking-fedora-and-black-rimmed-spectacles-and-trousers-that-have-had-an-argument-with-your-ankles, NOT so fucking useful when there’s a slip road that splits a “2nd left” in two!!!

Halfords no longer stock Navman sat navs and a staff member told me there’s a reason – Halfords fell out with Navman because they apparently weren’t interested in providing support when things went wrong with customer’s sat navs. I can’t back this up with evidence but can YOU find any Navmans in Halfords…?

But I loved my Navman, so, so much. The instructions were SO CLEAR, and the map was incredibly simple and clear – no silly gimmicks, no clutter. Just simple and extremely easy to read when it mattered most. My Garmin has very fancy features and yes the animation is smoother, it also has lifetime digital traffic updates……but god…simple times. I love simple things that just WORK, you know..?

I'm a gamer. I'm a coaster. I am happy in general. We're all born by chance and we're all gonna die. That makes me no better or worse than you. Get over that fact and we'll probably get along. I comment on the Google news feed a lot. Oh, and I swear quite a lot.
