Screen Rant is to gaming knowledge what I am to a Halfords mechanics team.
I’ve just had their story about PSN errors pop up on my Google feed and it did make me chuckle. Especially this part:
Oh, SONY needs to be “more transparent” with them, does it Screen Rant?? You don’t think, maybe, that gamers buying everything digitally because it’s just sooooooooooo “convenient” should actually bother thinking about this shit themselves to begin with??? Oh but no, oh noooo, it’s big bad SONY at fault here. Jesus fucking christ people, wake the fuck up!! This concept of “ownership” when buying ANYTHING digitally is an illusion!! Oh it’s often a fairly convincing illusion, sure I’ll give you that, but you ARE at the mercy of a multitude of factors, including (but not limited to):
- Someone hacking your account (bye games)
- Sony’s server being down (bye games)
- Sony, for whatever reason, terminating your account (bye games)
- Your ISP being down
- PSN being down
- Weirdy inexplicable errors preventing you from accessing your library (as detailed in article)
You buy the disc, about, ooooh, TWO of those factors remains an issue – that’s your ISP and PSN being down, but that’s ONLY if it’s multiplayer you’re doing. Me? NONE of them are any issue as I barely EVER play multiplayer mode. The onus shouldn’t be on Sony to handhold these dozy “oooh convenience!!!” idiots. More fool them for not realising (or even being interested in) what the digital purchasing concept, of games, and films, and music, does tend to entail.
I’m laughing hard at you with all my physical copies right now….
