I often compartmentalise people I know online usually depending on how long I reckon I’m going to know them for.
So, this person is a bit unhinged, so there’s no way I’m letting her know my YouTube. This person doesn’t really gel with stuff I think about and have to talk about so she’s not having this site address. I barely know this person so she’s not having either. And so on, and so on. It was very rare I’d give someone my Twitter – though that’s no longer an issue of course. One person I did give my Twitter to – after her asking me for about 2 months for it. When I eventually did, I found out……she barely uses Twitter. So that was fucking annoying.
You have to protect yourself!! It’s a very sensible policy because what if you’ve fallen out, and they feel like venting their rage or even just annoyance in the comments section of your various profiles, even if they’ve blocked you. That’s going to be awkward, time consuming and irritating.
People Lite, that’s me. It just works.
